Prince William Marriage | Prince William Takes Kate for a Spin

LONDON: Prince William delighted crowds of stunned well-wishers in central London on Friday when he took his new bride Kate for a spin in an Aston Martin with the number plate JU5T WED on the back. The prince drove out from the Buckingham Palace gates to the surprise of many, in a light-hearted moment that captured the spirit of their wedding day and epitomised their popular appeal as a new generation of royals. The new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, aged 28 and 29, drove to nearby Clarence House, the home of his father Prince Charles , in an open-top Volante DB6 covered in bunting and balloons.

Kate was still in her ivory wedding dress, while William, second in line to the throne, had changed from his red Irish Guards colonel uniform into a less formal black outfit. "It was Prince William's idea to drive his new bride away from the official reception on their first journey as a married couple to his family home," said a spokesman for his St James's Palace office. The couple waved to the shocked crowds as William slowly drove up The Mall, the ceremonial processional route from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square. In complete contrast with the formal carriage procession that took them from their Westminster Abbey wedding venue to the palace, escorted by massed ranks of cavalry, this time the couple were followed by a sole security car.

With a helicopter hovering overhead, the Aston Martin, the dashing British hero, the beautiful girl, and the boldness of the move, it could have been a scene from a James Bond movie. The car had been decorated with helium balloons, red and white rosettes, red, white and blue ribbons tied between the bonnet and the windscreen, with a learner driver's L plate on the front.Best man Prince Harry, William's brother, led other family and friends in doing the decorations. And in a move kept as a special surprise for the couple, there was a fly-past by a Royal Air Force search and rescue Sea King -- the same helicopters that William flies. The couple are based on the rural island Anglesey off the northwest coast of Wales, where William is a search and rescue pilot.

Celebrity News Today | Katie Couric in CBS Evening News

Katie Couric is leaving her anchor post at CBS Evening News less than five years after becoming the first woman to anchor a network TV evening newscast alone.

A network executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Couric has not officially announced her plans, reported the move to The Associated Press on Sunday night.

The 54-year-old anchor is expected to launch a syndicated talk show in 2012 and several companies are vying for her services, including CBS.

No departure date has been set for Couric. Her CBS News contract expires on June 4. Spokespeople for CBS and Couric declined comment on Sunday.

Couric's move from NBC's Today show was big news in 2006, and she began in the anchor chair with a flourish that September.

She tried to incorporate her strengths as an interviewer into a standard evening news format and millions of people who normally didn't watch the news at night checked it out. But they drifted away, and Couric settled into the third place ranking CBS has occupied for many years.

Prince William and Kate Middleton | The Royal Wedding

On April 29 2011 the happy couple will celebrate their vows at the ancient and magnificent Westminster Abbey in London. King Henry I and Princess Matilda of Scotland were the first Royals to get married there when they tied the knot on Nov. 11, 1100. And of course it was the venue for the heart-rending but ultimately inspiring funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997.

There have been a lot of column inches written about this most modern of couples, and their romance seems to have captured the imagination of the entire world. Since meeting as students at St Andrew's University in Scotland, their love affair has had plenty of time to flourish and mature. There can be no doubt that both of them are absolutely in love and committed to a lifetime's partnership together.

And unlike Prince William's father, Prince Charles, who infamously replied to the question as to whether he was in love with Diana "Yes, whatever 'in love' means...", you can be certain that his son and future daughter-in-law know exactly what love is. Much has been made of the future King of England marrying a commoner. Vestiges of snobbery masquerading as court protocol still haunt the royal corridors. Taunts of 'doors to manual' have been reported as being used by some aristocrats and courtiers of Kate, a reference to her mother's former occupation as a flight attendant.

From what we have seen of her and her family, such underhand, pathetic and childish comments are undoubtedly taken with a sense of humour. They reveal more about the taunter than the recipient. The Middletons are respectably middle class. Kate's father, Michael, is the son of a former airline pilot, and himself started as an airline steward for British Airways (where he met his future wife Carole Goldsmith) before rising to the rank of flight dispatcher. They made their money in the party ware business, and their company, Party Pieces, is as far as anyone can tell, thriving. It even features Royal Wedding items in its stock.

The Sarah Palin | Gabrielle Gifford's Publicity Connection

A lot of people were horrified to hear of Gifford being shot. Social media was buzzing with questions and updates and quickly came to the conclusion that Sarah Palin has somehow induced it. Many journalist wrote about her style of interview and how she had Democrats in 'Crosshairs" on her website. They felt it might be dangerous and many said so. Regardless of which side you fall on, Sarah Palin now has some bad publicity to deal with. Here are some of the things she could think about doing.

If you are in business long enough you will have to deal with some bad publicity. Everyone has unhappy customers. Some unhappy customers go to the press or put it on a website to complain. I personally have complained via the web about a company I was unhappy with. You have to realize it is part of business. You can choose to let the bad publicity sit there. What will happen? Well, you cannot control the consequences. You might have a lot of potential customers turn away from you. You could open yourself up for other type of lawsuits because people see vulnerability. If you never clear it up, you will never know when it will come back. I never recommend ignoring bad publicity, especially in an emergency.

I do recommend being ready for these emergencies. You can do a lot of things to help mitigate the backlash. You can make sure only one spokes person from the company talks to media. Right now, as I write this article, Sarah Palin is advocating that people pray. Will it answer all her detractors? No, but it will make some people feel that she is concerned about the trend that is happening and her contribution to it. For a lot of people that is enough. After all, she did not force the man to pull the trigger. Palin did have the courage to speak for herself and not allow a spokes person to speak for her during this tragic time. Having a spokes person speak for you when bad things are happening makes you look guilty.

Collecting William and Kate Royal Wedding Souvenirs

Following the historic news that Prince William and Kate Middleton are to get married on April 29th 2011 at Westminster Abbey a hoard of Royal wedding souvenirs and memorabilia goes into production. If you're a patriotic royal watcher, or simply on the lookout for an investment opportunity, now is the time to start researching everything connected to William and Kate.

Mugs, cups and plates have always been a favourite collectible item during the build up to any special Royal event. There will certainly be a wide variety of all types of china with both Prince William and Princess Catherine's faces on them, along with the royal crests or perhaps Westminster Abbey in the background. These become collector's pieces and look very nice arranged along a shelf or in a cabinet.

Fine bone china with hand painted decorative occasions of the wedding is a good recommended choice to purchase, as these can carry their own value, even without the imprinted commemorative photos.

Royal thimbles will be on offer printed with photos of the happy couple. Royal commemorative thimbles date back well over a century and have long been an item of collectible value. Look out for thimbles that have been produced using an embossed method on precious metals such as gold, silver, or even platinum. Collecting these will be much higher in value, along with the commemorative element.

Start collecting any type of reading material on the newly weds to be. Magazines, books, pamphlets, newspaper articles, anything concerning William and Kate's historic journey. Kept together as a theme collection in immaculate condition, a full collection of printed reading material and photographs surrounding their engagement, wedding, and any other informative articles as a married couple, will always attract the attention of collectors looking for royal memorabilia.
